Anonymous asked: desperate. i can't decide. i got rid of my canon rebel xsi because i wasn't crazy about it and my lens broke and couldn't find a reasonably priced replacement. so now i want a new camera. not sure if it needs to be a dslr or the new compact cameras. i have no brand loyalty. i have read tons of product reviews. i was leaning towards the nikon d3100 (in terms of features and price), but the reviews don't sound that great either. can you tip me one way or another?
I’m very sorry, but not having anything to go by but a rough budget estimate gives me very little to base recommendations on. The business of picking a DSLR can be pretty straightforward, but add the various sorts of “big” sensor compacts to the equation and offering useful advice becomes anything but easy. Also, the (over)abundance of features in the latest DSLR models, makes me more hesitant to just recommend one model over the rest.
I’m afraid it came to either this answer or a thesis on the various methods of picking out a camera. I’m not even sure that the thesis would have been any more helpful and it would certainly have been a lot more boring.
If you’d still like some help and think that I might be able to provide it, then scoot over to kal.li for alternative ways to contact me. I’ll try to help you narrow down your choices.
